About Email Validation
Email address validation checks whether an email address conforms to the standard format rules.
What syntax validation checks:
- Contains exactly one @ symbol
- Has a valid local part (before @)
- Has a valid domain part (after @)
- Domain has at least one period
- No invalid characters
- Proper length limits
What syntax validation doesn't check:
- Whether the email address actually exists
- Whether the domain has valid MX records
- Whether the mailbox can receive mail
- Whether the email is currently in use
Common valid email formats:
user@example.com
firstname.lastname@example.com
user+tag@example.com
user@subdomain.example.com
